5-Day Village & Community Experience

During your stay, you will be hosted by our partner charity YFC, an award-winning organisation using sports development, education, and community initiatives to create positive opportunities for young people and future generations - an beyond! 


 Guests will experience authentic Punjabi village life, visit local historical and spiritual sites, take part in workshops, and spend time with the dedicated team members who work within the charity and college community.


All meals, workshops, local transport for excursions, and scheduled activities are included within your retreat package.

Punjab like no one else...

Transport will be provided using comfortable air-conditioned coaches or vehicles when travelling together for excursions.  Guests will explore local villages, historical locations, and important  heritage sites, including visits around Jalandhar and Ludhiana - this is a unique trip designed by Indians


Day 1–2: Village & College Immersion


During the first two days, guests will remain mainly at Jalandhar, Punjab hosted by FYC the charity who we are supporting:

  • Settle into the environment
  • Meet the India team
  • Receive a full tour of the facilities
  • Learn about the charity’s mission and impact
  • Participate in workshops
  • Experience village community life
  • Enjoy wellbeing activities and relaxation time

Daily Schedule (Days Based in Jalandhar)


Morning Routine

8:00am – Morning Meditation & Breakfast Opening

The day begins with an optional morning meditation practice, allowing guests time for stillness, reflection, and setting personal intentions for the day.

A healthy organic breakfast will be served from:


8:30am – 10:00am | Organic Breakfast

All meals during your stay are freshly prepared using organic ingredients, supporting a nourishing and mindful approach to wellbeing.


Daytime Activities

10:00am – 1:00pm | Workshops, Community Activities & Exploration


Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of included workshops and experiences, such as:

  • Introduction and tour of the college and charity facilities
  • Meeting the charity team and learning about their community projects
  • Understanding the role of sports development through education
  • Cultural workshops
  • Punjabi traditions and village life experiences
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Meditation sessions when required or requested by the group
  • Reflection and personal growth activities
  • Community connection opportunities


Guests will also have free time to relax, explore the surroundings, journal, or spend time connecting with nature.


Lunch

1:00pm – 2:00pm | Organic Lunch

A freshly prepared organic lunch will be provided daily.


Afternoon Experiences

2:00pm – 6:00pm | Excursions, Workshops & Wellbeing Experiences


During your stay, guests will be offered:

Each guest will receive:

All activities are optional, allowing each guest to create their own retreat experience.

Guests will enjoy an evening organic meal together, creating space for connection, conversation, and community.

Gurdwara visits

During the retreat, guests will have the opportunity to visit historic Gurdwaras connected with the journeys, teachings, and legacy of the Sikh Gurus.


These visits provide a deeper understanding of history, spirituality, seva, and the traditions that continue to shape Punjab today.


1. Gurdwara Panjvi Patshahi Bilga

Linked to: Guru Arjan Dev Ji – Fifth Sikh Guru

Gurdwara Panjvi Patshahi Bilga is associated with the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji played a central role in Sikh history by:

  • Compiling the first edition of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
  • Establishing Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) as a central place of Sikh worship
  • Promoting equality, humility, and devotion
  • Strengthening the foundations of Sikh community life


Guests will learn about Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s message of accepting all people equally and living with compassion, humility, and faith.


2. Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji May Sahib

Linked to: Guru Arjan Dev Ji – Fifth Sikh Guru

Gurdwara May Sahib is connected with the life and travels of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.


Guru Arjan Dev Ji travelled extensively throughout Punjab sharing the message of:

  • Naam Simran (remembering the Divine)
  • Honest living
  • Equality
  • Service to humanity


This visit allows guests to reflect on the peaceful teachings of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the importance of spiritual discipline and community connection.


3. Gurdwara Talhan Sahib

Linked to: Sikh traditions of Seva and community devotion

Gurdwara Talhan Sahib is a respected local Gurdwara in the Jalandhar region, known for its strong community connection and traditions of seva.


Guests will experience:

  • Langar traditions
  • The importance of selfless service
  • The role of Gurdwaras as places of equality and support for all


4. Gurdwara Shri Manji Sahib Alamgir

Linked to: Guru Gobind Singh Ji – Tenth Sikh Guru

Gurdwara Manji Sahib Alamgir is connected with the journey of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.


During his travels, Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this area and blessed the local community.


Guru Gobind Singh Ji is remembered for:

  • Establishing the Khalsa Panth in 1699
  • Teaching courage, equality, and protection of others
  • Strengthening Sikh identity and values
  • Promoting fearlessness and service

Guests will learn about Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s vision of a community built on faith, courage, and compassion.


5. Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib

Linked to: Guru Gobind Singh Ji – Tenth Sikh Guru

As part of the journey towards Amritsar, guests will visit Anandpur Sahib, one of the most significant places in Sikh history.

Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib is the birthplace of the Khalsa.

In 1699, on Vaisakhi, Guru Gobind Singh Ji created the Khalsa Panth and established the principles of:

  • Equality
  • Courage
  • Commitment to righteousness
  • Service to humanity
  • Standing against injustice

This visit offers guests an opportunity to connect deeply with Sikh history and the legacy of the Ten Sikh Gurus.


6. Gurdwara Sri Harmandir Sahib

Linked to: Guru Arjan Dev Ji – Fifth Sikh Guru

The retreat journey will conclude in Amritsar with a visit to Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), the most recognised Sikh spiritual centre in the world.

Built under the guidance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Harmandir Sahib represents:

  • Equality of all humanity
  • Humility and devotion
  • Universal welcome
  • Seva and community spirit


Guests will experience the spiritual atmosphere of this sacred place and reflect on the teachings passed down through the Ten Sikh Gurus.
